How the Servo Hydraulic System Saves Energy on Taifu High-Speed Vertical Machines
Taifu high-speed vertical molding machines use a servo hydraulic system: a servo motor drives a fixed-displacement pump. The motor's start, stop and speed can be adjusted freely, so the pump's output volume and speed follow exactly what each machine movement requires. The speed and position of every action are controlled directly by the servo hydraulic system.
Compared with a conventional system
A conventional hydraulic system pairs a fixed-speed motor with a fixed-displacement pump. Once the machine is running, the pump turns at a constant speed and delivers a constant flow, much of which is wasted work. With a servo system, the pump delivers only the oil required for the pressure and flow of each movement.
Biggest savings on long cooling times
Thick-walled parts need long cooling times, during which there is no injection movement. A conventional system keeps pumping and returning all the oil to the tank, consuming power for nothing. A servo system stops the pump during cooling and consumes no energy — the longer the cooling time, the greater the saving.
Because the servo system delivers oil according to the stroke of each movement, oil flow fluctuates less, avoiding unnecessary flow losses.
